1. How much does it cost? (top)
Counselling is $170 per 50 min counselling session (covered by most extended health care plans).

Mediation is $250 per one hour session (unlike other mediators, this fee includes the time and cost of document writing, and unlike other mediators this can be covered by most health plans under my MSW qualifications).

2. Is there a minimum booking? (top)
Individuals should book one hour time slots.

Couples can book 1-2 hour time slots. I recommend an initial two hour time slot for the first appointment.

Meditation appointments should be 2-3 hours with the exception of the initial sessions which are for each party involved and these are 1-2 hours.

3. What is the difference between Counselling and Mediation? (top)
Counselling is an in-depth reflective process involving the exploration of underlying issues in which you work directly with your counsellor. Mediation refers to taking a problem focused approach toward resolving concerns where the parties involved in the conflict are speaking to each other and the mediator is helping to maintain a purposeful conversation. Both counselling and mediation involve conversations designed to resolve issues, facilitate growth, improve communication and promote healthy relationships.

4. How many sessions will I need? (top)
This varies with each individual, couple and family based on their unique scenario and goals. I work in a solution focused manner and will be able to give you a better idea once we meet and discuss your situation allowing us to develop an agreed upon plan for services.

5. Should I come alone or with my partner? (top)
Individual and couples counselling are both provided but it is usually best that couples come to the initial session together. From this point recommendations may be made for individual counselling.

6. What is the cancellation policy? (top)
There is a policy regarding cancellations and missed appointments that WJW believes is fair to you, myself and other clients needing appointments. As the appointment is reserved exclusively for you, you will be charged the established hourly fee for appointments that you fail to show for. For appointments in which you provide 48 hour notice, there will be no charges. Appointments with less than 48 hour notice will incur a cancellation fee of the full cost of the session booked.

7. Is Counselling and Mediation confidential? (top)
Conversations with WJW are kept in strict confidence. If there is a need or desire to disclose information from files with another professional e.g. medical doctor, the client will be consulted first and asked to sign a release of information document. Office reception is also obliged to the same code of confidentiality and has signed an agreement to ensure their strictest confidence. Counsellors are required by law to report to the appropriate authorities if there is physical or sexual abuse of a child under the age of 18 or if there is reason to believe a person’s life is in jeopardy or if a judge subpoenas a counsellor to testify in court or to release the contents of a file, the counsellor is required to do so; these are the legal limitations to confidentiality.

8. What can I expect in the first session? (top)
At the initial appointment you will be asked to share information with the Counsellor about what brings you to counselling, counselling goals and your background. The length of one session is 50 minutes, leaving 10 minutes to tend to the file before the next session. You will be asked to fill out an intake form, a questionnaire. We will then meet to discuss your concerns, goals and book future appointments. Continuity of treatment is an important part of gaining benefits through counselling. I encourage planning ahead in scheduling appointments.

9. What days and times are available for appointments? (top)
Appointments are available Monday to Friday with one evening a week. You can see most available appointment times by clicking on the Book Appointment Now button. If you are seeking a time that is not showing available, please call to speak with Wendy directly for options.

10. Where are you located? (top)
